lol trust me before i had her i had a very routine minded approach to parenting. i figured ok she'll take a nap at this time eat at this time sleep at this time and it's ok if she cries for a little bit. WRONG.
as soon as you have one your entire outlook changes and your instincts kick in and it's totally different. then all i think is oh she needs me and that little girl never gets the chance to cry cause it brakes my heart. I spent $90 on a bassinet before she was born and she hasnt set foot in it cause she sleeps in the bed with me cause I was so afraid she would get SIDS or something. now I just dont want to wake up and not see her next to me. instincts are a lot stronger than you think |

i suppose if you are a deep sleeper or intoxicated. thats more like an old wives tales and we're all taught to believe that by our mothers because they were by theirs. I read a book by William and Martha Sears (a pediatrician and his wife and parents of 8 kids) and he believes that "sharing sleep" with your baby is a great thing. studies showed that it
1. reduces the risk of sids
2. sets a more calmer mood for them throughout the day afterwards
3. makes them less dependent when they are older
4. reduces the chance of them having anxiety issues later in life and insomnia.
it's a whole parenting style called "attachment parenting" thats basically against self soothing. and so far all anybody tells me is "oh shes such a quiet happy baby" and she really is compared to most |

I hate to be cruel, but I'd rather have a cranky baby than a suffocated one D: There's always that chance it happens, and it only has to happen once...
Does sharing sleep actually mean in the same bed? Because I thought it meant in the same room, but in their own bed... |

| no it means in the same bed. i have a pretty big bed and everyone has a sense of their limits. its in our instincts to do this because a long time ago thats what women did. i know im not going to roll over on her. if i thought there was a chance of it i wouldnt share sleep with her, and anyone that doesnt feel totally comfortable should buy a safety gaurd or one of those bassinets that safely connects with ur bed if u want to share sleep. |

| I'm happy with what i do, I don't care if it's controversial, and I know it's safe for me. I would never do anything with her that i didn't think was safe. i can't speak for everyone but i love it. she's over two months old and i havent even rolled close to her, obviously i have it under control and obviously our women ancestors did too. I never sleep with my back to her (most people roll to their back in their sleep if they do roll) and my hand on her tummy so i can feel her breathing. I love it love it love it. she's my favorite person i've ever had in my bed. and i hate to brake it to everyone but most babies are quite light sleepers. |

Anywho, I was only saying you can't compare sleeping with a cat with sleeping with a baby.
I meant absolutely no offense, we just warned you because if they point something like that out in a big national tv commercial it would be something you should consider... Which you obviously did :o ;) |
